DOCTORAL SCHOOL IN LINGUISTICS

 

István Pozsgai graduated from Kossuth Lajos University with a degree in Russian and Ancient Greek. He earned his PhD in 2000 at the University of Szeged, with a dissertation titled Reduced Sounds in the Sinai Patericon (supervised by Imre H. Tóth). In 2017, he obtained his habilitation in linguistics in Szeged.

He is currently an associate professor at the Department of Russian Philology at the Institute of Slavic Studies, Faculty of Humanities, University of Pécs (PTE BTK), as well as at the Department of Russian at Pázmány Péter Catholic University (PPKE BTK).

His research areas include Russian historical linguistics, Slavic historical linguistics, Old Russian and Old Church Slavonic, historical phonetics, historical morphology, and historical syntax. He teaches courses on both diachronic and synchronic linguistics, as well as translation.
