DOCTORAL SCHOOL IN LINGUISTICS
Katalin Sipőcz is Associate Professor of the Department of Finno-Ugric Linguistics at the University of Szeged (SZTE). Her PhD dissertation (2000) focused on the body part terms in Uralic languages. She obtained her habilitation in 2018. Between 2011 and 2022, she worked as the head of the Department of Finno-Ugric Linguistics at SZTE. During her career, she worked as a Hungarian lecturer in Finland at the University of Jyväskylä, as a visiting Hungarian teacher in Slovakia at the University of Nitra, and she taught Hungarian linguistics as a visiting professor at the University of Helsinki. She has led four research projects and participated in three others. Her research primarily focuses on the Mansi language, and she has published a monograph on Mansi color terms. In addition to lexical studies, she also explores morphosyntactic, cultural linguistic, and cognitive linguistic issues, often adopting a typological approach. She has been teaching at the University of Szeged since 1987, currently offering courses on Hungarian linguistics and Uralic studies at BA, MA, and PhD levels.
