DOCTORAL SCHOOL IN LINGUISTICS
Sándor Szeverényi is an associate professor at the Department of Finno-Ugric Studies at the University of Szeged. He received his PhD degree in 2008. The topic of his dissertation was the adjectival category of the Nganasan language. He habilitated in 2021 and has been the head of the Department of Finno-Ugric Studies since 2022. His research interests are mainly in Samoyedic languages, especially Nganasan. His publications focus on ethnolinguistic, typological and historical analysis of Nganasan, but he is also involved in Udmurt research, general Uralic issues and history of Finno-Ugric studies. He has been teaching at the University of Szeged since 1998, and currently teaches courses on Hungarian linguistics and Uralic studies at BA, MA and PhD levels.
