Tamás Forgács
Tamás Forgács a Full Professor at the Department of Hungarian Linguistics at the University of Szeged (previously Head of the Department between 2006 and 2024), and a Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. His research interests include Hungarian linguistics, in particular the history of language, syntax and phraseology. He has been a member of the Linguistics Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences for several terms, and is currently its Vice-Chairman, and also an alternate member of the Doctoral Council of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Between 2002 and 2007, he was the Secretary of the Hungarian Linguistics Working Committee of the Committee on Linguistics. Since 2022, he has been a member of the MTA Assembly. He was a founding member of the Hungarian Linguistics programme at the Doctoral School of Linguistics of the University of Szeged, and since April 2002 he has also been the Head of the Hungarian Linguistics programme. His academic and teaching work has been acknowledged with numerous awards (e.g. Széchenyi Professorial Scholarship, István Széchenyi Scholarship, Hungarian Higher Education Memorial Plaque, Outstanding Hungarian Dictionary Award, Golden Penna Award).
